Courtenay and Nick | Charleston Wedding Planners, Photography and DJs

Courtenay and Nick met while playing co-ed soccer at Patriot’s Point in Mount Pleasant, SC. The two became friends, and two years later began dating.  After 4 years of dating, Nick took Courtenay (and their two dogs) to their favorite little cabin in the mountains of NC to celebrate her 30th birthday. When Courtenay opened the door to the cabin, she found rose petals, candles, and a sign reading, “Will you Marry Me?”  After some crying, she said, “YES!”

Although Courtenay and Nick were relocating to Greensboro, NC that upcoming summer, there was no doubt in their minds where they wanted to tie the knot: Charleston. They got married at Harborside East, with the quintessential Charleston Ravenel Bridge in sight.

The wedding day could not have been more perfect. The weather was warm (a highlight for many northern guests who are used to snow in November). The Pinnacle trio were in perfect harmony with one another. Linda kept things moving at the perfect pace to get the couple and guests on to the dance floor.  Matt played tunes for the guests of all ages and arranged a few special surprise songs, one of which was a serenade for the bride by her uncles. The photographers captured beautiful moments of the bride and her bridesmaids getting ready downtown, as well as the groom and groomsmen getting ready on Isle Of Palms.

In their words, Courtenay and Nick “loved every second of their wedding weekend, and are grateful that Pinnacle was there every step of the way to make their favorite city the setting for their perfect wedding.”

Congratulations Courtenay and Nick!

John And Caroline | Charleston Wedding Planners and DJs

John and Caroline met in the summer of 2011 at Duke University in Durham, NC, while they were both students. After a mutual friend introduced them to each other and a summer of texting back and forth, John asked Caroline on an official date where they had dinner on a picnic bench outside a Mexican restaurant on the side of the road. The next 7 years was the beginning of a beautiful history! They moved to Charleston in 2014, and while back in Durham for the annual homecoming game, John proposed to Caroline in the Duke Gardens, one of their favorite places on campus.

John and Caroline got married on a rainy, thunderstorm-scattered, hail-threatening Sunday in December. While they had planned to have the ceremony on the lawn overlooking the marsh, the weather had other plans. The ceremony was moved to the deep porch that wraps around the building, where their family and friends piled in close together. They said their vows with the sound of rain beating down on the metal roof and everybody had goosebumps. While the wedding was different than what they had imagined, they would not have changed a thing. Pinnacle was honored to be a part of this intimate and beautiful wedding ceremony.

Congratulations John and Caroline!

Meet the Team | Q & A with Mikey

We are so excited here at Pinnacle to introduce the newest member to our team – Mikey! Hailing from across the pond, Mikey is an award winning, international DJ & Entertainer with an all round talent for live music. As the new Lead DJ to the team, Mikey’s infectious energy and worldly knowledge, will get everyone and anyone up onto the dance floor for the night of their lives.

How did you get into the DJ business?

After I graduated from stage school for musical theatre back in 2003, I wanted to become a professional singer and live presenter. I headed to the Spanish Island of Tenerife to pursue a career in live music. Over the years that followed, I sang, presented and was a comedy host. I was also the owner & face of a successful music venue, and a popular radio talk show personality.

I was always looking at new ways to perform and grow musically, so it was only a matter of time before the DJ scene was on my radar!

Realizing my new found passion for delivering music this way, I moved to the white island and DJ capital of the world Ibiza, where I could learn the skills necessary to keep a dance floor moving and current. I became the resident DJ in four different venues. After two years it was time for a new challenge. I then became the newest Pro DJ on board the travel industry leader & entertainment giant, Carnival Cruise Lines. This new role gave me the opportunity to create new music sets and perform to thousands each week, providing the soundtrack to hundreds of weddings, events, and parties all […]

Meet the Team | Q & A with Linda

The first planner on the list for ya’ll to meet is lead planner – Linda Warner. A newbie to the Charleston wedding scene, but she is already blazing a trail that none can surpass.

How did you start doing wedding planning?

I have always been a very creative person, thus I was always asked to do the design for events and functions. This grew to weddings and even table designs in peoples homes. Once I was more established I began my own wedding company in South Africa, which I owned and ran for 15 years.

Tell us a little bit about yourself

I was originally born in Zimbabwe but then my family moved to South Africa where I lived most of my life.  I traveled the world for most of my 20’s experiencing different cultures. I lived in a culturally volatile society which has made me very aware and empathetic with different cultures and societies and I enjoy experiencing new adventures.

I am an artistic person who is constantly painting or drawing. I am privileged with the  ability to produce and see clear three-dimensional images which led me to start set design and lighting for theatre productions. In the last decade I produced and designed 3-5 shows a year in between planning events and weddings. I have always loved the diversity of each of these creative mediums and loved working with people.

In addition, I also studied to be a personal trainer and nutritionist.  I owned my own exercise studio, teaching yoga and strength classes. I have also lectured nutrition and  healthy lifestyle seminars to corporate groups and schools.

What are your hobbies?

I love being active so I enjoy any kind of sport from […]

Meet the Team | Q & A with Stuart

Meet the front man of it all – Stuart!

Founder and owner of Pinnacle, Stuart has been married for 19 years to his amazing wife with whom he has raised identical twin girls currently in high school. His family inspires him and is a great source on strength on a daily basis. We sat down with Stuart for a little Q & A to hear a little more.

How did Pinnacle get started?

That’s a long story that I will shorten 🙂 When we moved to Charleston 8 years ago, I was looking to transition into something that had less travel, so I could be home more with my family. I noticed a real need at that time for an upscale DJ company that only did weddings. Having owned a DJ company earlier in life (starting at age 14!!) it was an easy decision to give it a shot.

I also wanted to fight the old myth about the cheesy DJ. So we really focused on fast communication and a real hands on approach to planning the music with a couple from booking to sendoff. We were one of the first to really lean on some very cool online planning tools that allowed us to really prepare for a wedding rather than show up and wing it. To this day, anyone on my DJ team still feels nervous if we don’t have a ton of info from our couples in advance. It’s just who we are. I joke with couples that they’d never let the caterer surprise them so don’t let the DJ!

Fortunately, the DJ side of Pinnacle was so successful that it allowed us to also move into […]

Connie and David | Charleston Wedding Planners and Photography

Two cultures infused when David and Connie met in Nebraska after a mutual friend introduced them to each other at the Church they attended. David is originally from Nigeria, having lived in India, Australia and Fiji. Connie is originally from California but grew up in Europe. Four months after meeting, these two tied the knot. Their wedding day was marked with beautiful South Carolina sunshine and humidity. After a close and intimate ceremony in the Fort Jackson Main Post Chapel with family and friends from all over the world and different stages of their lives, Connie and David changed into traditional Yoruba wedding attire from Nigeria for a picturesque photoshoot. The wedding day was stress free thanks to wedding coordinator Linda, as Connie and David enjoyed every moment of the day with good company, good food and a full dance floor. In their words the wedding day was “Perfect!”

Congratulations to Connie & David!

Tiffany and Ryan | Charleston Engagement Session

Tiffany and Ryan are from the Northeast and were really enjoying this unseasonably warm weather. Tiffany really wanted a Charleston feel to her photos.  We made our way through the cobblestone streets and into some little alley ways for their photos.  Which is the classic Charleston vibe you see in all the photos.  I can’t wait until there wedding at Magnolia Plantation in June.

Jayme and Tom | Charleston Wedding Photographers

Jayme and Tom’s wedding day was absolutely perfect. The were married and had their reception at Pepper Plantation just outside of Charleston, SC. They were joined by friends and family that traveled from all over the east coast. Jayme and Tom are so awesome that they had a Gelato Cart with so many flavors just for their guests. You really can’t go wrong with unlimited Gelato at your wedding, especially in the Charleston heat. They had a really cool send off with confetti that I don’t think enough bride and grooms take advantage of.

Congratulations to Jayme & Tom!
